A Wedding Story

This is an introductory post for the series of posts I am gonna write on the rituals performed during wedding ceremony in Rung Community (A community which is spread across borders of India & Nepal). 

I will be starting with the beautiful rituals bride and groom experience during the wedding, and will conclude the series with Post Wedding rituals the newly wedded couple go through. So stay tuned for my first post - A Wedding Story - Through Bride's Eyes.

Mom-Dad in traditional attire-Year 2014 This post is the continuation of the previous post  (which covered the tradition attire for women). The current post covers the traditional attire which is being wore by the men in Rung Community. It is  an  off-white single piece dress and being wore at the outermost layer like any other overcoat. A white clothes is tied at the waist level which is called the Jajyo-Jang.  This attire is not complete without Bynthalo (a traditional turban) and sword & boards . During Kangdali Festival- Year 1999 During olden  days the fabric was being hand made at home  using the handmade wool's. The the overcoat is self stitched with the hand made fabric. In those days this was the regular clothes which men used to wear, since it used to help them from cold breeze as it was made out of pure wool. Traditional Attire - Chyung Bala

During Kandali Festival -  Year 2011 I couldn't resist myself from writing about the beautiful attire which has always been fascinated me. Have seen my mom & aunties wearing it since I was a kid. I got a chance to wear it first time in October 2011 during Kangdali (a festival which comes once in 12 years and is being celebrated by the Rungs staying in Chaudas Valley ). D uring olden days  this was the regular dress wore by the ladies and girls used to wear Gagari (A single piece full sleeves dress where the black crop top is attached to the printed frill skirt which goes till the toes. It looks more like a long frock). These days the traditional attire is being wore occasionally either on wedding, festivals or other big ceremonies. Happy Birthday Sumit!

I wanted to surprise Sumit on his 33rd birthday, so this idea of making video with 33 birthday wishes from 33 people came to my mind. I contacted our family & friends almost a month back to make this and everyone was so supportive. At the end I was truly happy with the outcome. Thanks to everyone who has been part of this video!
